I was sent (1) CRS6 One and (1) AIM One 8. Both performed very well, It was difficult to notice a huge difference between the two, but I slightly preferred the AIM One 8. The sound was a subtle difference, but seemed to be both riched and fuller. Of course since neither one of these were mounted into the ceiling, the sound could be totally different when installed. I would personally recommend listening to any speaker before buying. New SpeakerCraft AIM8 One 8" AIMABLE INCEILING SPEAKER (EACH) Beautiful Speaker, Beautiful SoundBy TateBefore you read on, I want to note that I have not experienced an entire sound system made up of SpeakerCraft speakers, I was only given this one 8" ceiling one to try, but if you're questioning the quality of sound from these guys I can at least put that fear to rest - it sounded stunning.The first thing to mention, even before the sound quality, is that these speakers look, feel and scream professional. It isn't lightweight, but not heavy. Whatever material it is made of feels very sturdy in your hands and doesn't look cheap, especially the speaker grille and paint masks, which I suppose is the most important since that's what people will be seeing. Plugging it is was also surprisingly easy, just connect your wires and start going, although you'd probably have a professional install it for you anyway.Now for the sound. I've listened to a great deal of surround sound speakers and other speakers in general, and I won't lie and say this one ceiling speaker topped them all, but it did sound really, really good. There wasn't a lot of one pitch (some speakers tend to either be all treble or all bass) and it could also pack some thump. I played a variety of music on there including everything from bass-heavy rap to the orchestral pieces from film scores and it all sounded movie theatre quality.Overall, without sitting in a room surrounded with these guys and watching a Blu Ray of Transformers, I can't dedicate my heart and soul to how great they sound, but based on my experience with this one I'd say it's worth the price. And the price is pretty expensive, but you only have one home and you only have one home theatre to experience (usually) so why not get the best? I love that you can paint the speakers to match whatever color scheme you might have and I love the size of the speaker and everything about it. Our old system included a lot of 1990s vintage electronics, some Bose speakers, and a powered Yamaha subwoofer. And a lot of wires. It sounded decent, but the aesthetics were seriously lacking.With the remodelled family room, aesthetics were very important. We did not want any speaker boxes in the room, and definitely no visible wires. Our new system produces 5.1 sound, with a Boston Acoustics soundbar for front, left, and center channels, and two 6-1/2" Boston Acoustics in-ceiling speakers for the rear channels. But the key to producing a theater experience in your home is a quality subwoofer. And that usually means some large squarish-looking box you try to hide somewhere in the room, like under a potted plant. The aesthetics of subwoofers are generally not good.So we chose the Speakercraft Cinema Sub System. And it IS a system - it includes an Accutune box that you intall in the wall of your room, a speaker that you install in the Accutune box, and a dedicated subwoofer amplifer to drive the speaker. To install this system, you need to cut a large hole in your drywall where you want to install the Accutune box, and then run wires through your wall from the Accutune box to wherever you plan to install the subwoofer amplifier. The Accutune box fits snugly between two studs in the wall and is mounted on either side to the two studs. After mounting the Accutune box in teh wall, you install a drywall patch to cover it and then finish and paint the wall so that it is invisible. Obviously this kind of installation is best when you are going to be doing some wall work anyway. If you are not good with drywall, you may want to pay a professional to do that part. Finally, you cut a hole in the newly installed drywall patch so you can install the subwoofer speaker in the Accutune box. A grill is then installed over the speaker to finish off the installation. Voila! - a subwoofer in your wall instead of in your room. The ONLY visible signs of electronics in our family room are the LCD TV which hangs from a post mounted through the ceiling to the attic (all wires are provided inside this post), the matching soundbar directly beneath the TV, and the grills in the rear ceiling for the rear channel speakers, and in the wall for this subwoofer.
